Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic School was opened
on January 3, 1927, as part of a newly established Catholic parish.
Classes from grades one through five were held in the mission church.
The first teachers were members of the Olivetan Benedictine order
of religious sisters. In 1946, the pastor Monsignor Francis A. Allen,
presented diplomas to the first eighth grade graduates.
Over the years, several additions have been made to the school.
Present enrollment is 524 students and includes pre-kindergarten
classes through the eighth grade. Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic
School admits students of all races, national and ethnic origins.
The school also admits those with learning differences or disabilities.
Although most students are of the Catholic faith, those of other
religious beliefs are also admitted. Through the years, Holy Souls
has maintained a philosophy of meeting the needs of as many students
as possible.
The Arkansas Nonpublic School Accrediting Association (ANSAA) has
fully accredited Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic School. ANSAA
is affiliated with the National Federation of Nonpublic Schools
in Washington, D.C. With this accreditation, Holy Souls sets itself
apart as an institution dedicated to providing its students the
best possible learning environment.
Over 2,500 students have graduated form Holy Souls School since
1946. One the school's evaluation of success is found in the comments
and thoughts of these former graduates. Feedback from these students
reflect the positive relationship between the students and the faculty,
high academic standards, family atmosphere, sense of responsibility
and service. In tracking our graduates, eighty-five percent graduate
in the upper third of their high school class. Ninety percent of
these graduates complete college and live productive lives. The
school is helping our community to educate dedicated, responsible
citizens for the state and for our country.
